October- Full Moon
Healing Full Moon
The full moon will occur on Saturday at 9:11 p.m. PDT. The October full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon, the Falling Leaves Moon, or the Migration Moon.
It will be aligned with the constellation Aries (sidereal astrology). In Vedic astrology, the first portion of Aries is called Ashwini, ruled by the Ashwin Kumaras—the horse-headed twins, sons of the Sun. They are said to possess great healing and regenerative powers. They represent the two hemispheres of our brain and that spark of life within us that can heal everything—physically, mentally, and spiritually. This full moon is highly conducive to healing in all its forms, as well as rejuvenation and regeneration! It’s the ideal time to begin a new therapy or start taking new remedies. Exposing yourself to its rays is very beneficial for any form of healing.
Between now and mid-November, the energy is focused on introspection and transition, so it’s best to keep things calm!
First, because the Sun is in its sign of debilitation, Libra, which could lead to a dip in vitality and confidence.
Second, because Mars, the planet of action and willpower, is also in its sign of debility, Cancer, which could lead to emotional frustration, difficulty expressing anger, passive aggression, and a decline in willpower and courage.
Venus will be retrograde from October 3 to November 13. Retrograde Venus will lead us to revisit how we relate to others, what our emotional needs are, and our interpersonal dynamics. This is a time to make adjustments in our relationships, express what needs improvement, and articulate our deepest needs. It is said that one should not enter into a relationship or partnership during Venus retrograde. Have a wonderful full moon!
Finally, the retrograde planets: Mercury and Venus! Mercury retrograde is favorable for reflection, but not for starting new projects, buying electronic devices, signing contracts, or having important, decisive discussions. Venus retrograde can help us reconnect with old friends, revisit unresolved relationships and heartaches, and unfinished artistic projects.
Throughout the month of November, Jupiter and Mars will join the South Node in the “gandantha” zone (the karmic knot to be untied) in the constellation of the ancestors. This is a time of transition, of untangling karmic knots and ancestral karma, and of reconnecting with one’s family lineage and ancient traditions. Enjoy the full moon!
