April- New Moon
New Moon of New Beginnings
There’s a lot of activity in the sky during these turbulent times and during this new moon on Friday, April 17, at 4:51 a.m. PDT.
It will be aligned with the constellation Aries. As the first sign of the zodiac and the place where the Sun is exalted, Aries represents new beginnings and gives us a burst of energy. We are in an annual moment of transition from the old to the new.
This year, this transition might take a little longer, or even involve delays and obstacles, because until May 10, Mars, the ruler of Aries, will linger behind in Pisces, along with three other planets, including Saturn. Life is asking us to thoroughly resolve everything before moving on to the new energy!
In Vedic astrology, the first portion of Aries is called Ashwini, ruled by the Ashwin Kumaras, who are the horse-headed twins, sons of the Sun. They are said to possess great healing and regenerative powers. This lunar constellation is therefore highly conducive to healing in all its forms, rejuvenation, and regeneration! It is the ideal time to find a remedy for our ailments, begin a new therapy or lifestyle routine, and engage in healing work.
The Ashwin Kumars represent the two hemispheres of our brain, our inner couple: one that emits the seed (crown chakra), and the other that receives it into its womb and brings it to fruition (third eye). This is the time to conceive new projects and new creations that we wish to see manifest in our lives.
On April 19, a lot will be happening astrologically. Venus will enter Taurus until May 13 and cross paths with Uranus. We may meet new people or adopt new artistic approaches. Venus is very happy in Taurus, the sign she rules. She will bring a great deal of creativity, an open heart, better financial management, sensuality, and a connection with nature.
On this date, we will also celebrate Akshara Tritiya, which is the time of year when the Sun and Moon are in exaltation. This day is considered very auspicious, and it is said that whatever we do or set as an intention on this day will bear fruit.
However, from April 19 to 21, there will be a perfect alignment between Mercury, Saturn, and Mars. This is called a “planetary war” in Vedic astrology and is considered unfavorable. There could be tensions during these days, and it is best not to undertake anything important.
Finally, from now until April 27, there is also a “kalasarpa yoga,” and periodically until mid-July, all the planets will be caught between the north and south nodes, thus confined to a single half of the zodiac. This can bring volatile and extreme events, a sense that fate is stronger than free will, both on an individual and collective level. Despite everything, I wish you all a joyful new moon!
