August - Full Moon

Full moon in Capricorn

The full moon will occur on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 00:55 a.m. PDT. Native Americans called the August full moon the Sturgeon Moon, Corn Moon, Grain Moon, Blueberry Moon, or Red Moon because of the reddish hue it can take on in the summer haze.

In sidereal astrology, it will be aligned with the constellation Capricorn, in the lunar constellation (nakshatra) Shravana, the “star of learning.” Its symbol is an ear, and this nakshatra symbolizes silence and listening, which we must develop if we want to “learn.” It also invites us to truly listen, whether to the sounds of nature, to others when they speak, or to our inner voice, which requires silence to be heard. It is a good full moon for pausing, resting, reciting mantras, and learning new languages. Shravana is the star of Vishnu, and it is a good time to practice devotional yoga (bhakti)

It is said that the dark and lower side of this nakshatra is “gossip,” talking about others, spreading rumors. Let's not be tempted by this waste of energy!

The long Saturn-Neptune conjunction invites us to realize our dreams and visions, to be realistic about our goals, and to do what it takes to achieve them. Happy summer full moon!
