July - Full Moon
Guru Purnima full moon
This will be the full moon on Thursday, July 10 at 7:37 pm PDT.It will be aligned with the end of the constellation Sagittarius (sidereal astrology). Sagittarius is the sign ruled by Jupiter, called Guru in Vedic astrology, and this full moon coincides with Guru Purnima, the festival to express gratitude to our guides and mentors. It´s also a time to assess our progress on the spiritual path and reaffirm our commitment to pursuing it.
The “Guru Tattwa” is also a principle, the one who leads us from darkness to light, who guides and teaches us through our intuition and all the events and actors in our lives...indeed, everything in our lives can teach us: our spiritual master, our teachers, but also our friends, our children, animals, insects, the plant kingdom, and ultimately, we realize that the ultimate “Guru” is within us and teaches us from within.
The full moon will be aligned with the constellation Purvashada, the “invincible star”, ruled by Apas, the goddess of purifying waters. It´s a good time to bathe, to get in touch with the purifying and healing element of water.
Venus, planet of creativity, beauty and harmony, is well positioned at home in Taurus until July 26. Its proximity to Uranus brings us new encounters, sometimes with people who are different from us; it can also give us inspiration for art.
As for Mars, planet of action and combativeness, it´s very strong in Leo, but its conjunction with Ketu until July 28 can bring explosive events in the world, and on a personal level, actions not guided by reason, taken on impulse. Happy full moon to all!
