September- Full Moon

Full Harvest Moon

The full moon will occur this Sunday, September 7, at 11:09 a.m. This year will be a little special, as there will be a total lunar eclipse that will give it a red color (blood moon). In BC, the eclipse will begin around 08:30 a.m. and become total around 10:28 a.m., lasting approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. It will be visible in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. During an eclipse, it is best to fast, stay indoors, and engage in spiritual activities, which are tenfold during this period.

The eclipse will be aligned with the constellation of Aquarius (sidereal astrology). The Leo-Aquarius axis concerns the balance between selfishness and altruism, self-awareness and awareness of others. This constellation, called Kumbha in Vedic astrology (meaning “pot”), is represented by a man holding a pot and pouring out the nectar of knowledge and the water of the ocean of prana in which we bathe. Aquarius brings universal consciousness, beyond our small selves that have the illusion of being separate from the whole, and invites us to rethink the world in which we want to live, to manifest new paradigms, to open ourselves to community and collective consciousness, to unity with all-that-is.

The full moon will be in the constellation Pegasus, called Purva Bhadrapada in Vedic astrology. Many symbols are associated with it: a funeral bed, reminding us of the reality of death and the need to detach ourselves from our false identities (personality, thoughts, emotions, opinions); a pillar of light (Jyotir lingam), which represents kundalini, that inexhaustible source of energy that elevates us and allows us to transcend three-dimensional reality. The unicorn (Pegasus is a winged horse) represents the third eye, opened through austerities and introspection.

Its deity of Purva Bhadrapada, Aja Ekapada, stands on one leg, reminding us of the austerities necessary for transformation and the importance of verticality and concentration on a single point to raise energy; This is called Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses). In the Bhagavad-Gita, it is said: “Like a turtle withdrawing its limbs into its shell, one who manages to withdraw their senses from their objects is firmly established in perfect consciousness.”

Between September 14 and 18, several planets will change constellations (Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars), bringing a shift in energy. We are heading toward a solar eclipse on September 21. It is said that one should not do anything important or start new projects between two eclipses. Happy full moon to all!
